Jinnah campus

The City School - Jinnah Campus used to be the main campus of the The City School group of schools in the city of Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan and is now one of the two main campuses (the other being Liaquat Campus) of The City School in Hyderabad. Similar to other campuses Jinnah Campus is a state of the art school campus built on a large area and equipped with many modern facilities such as a well kept library, a playing ground and various laboratories.

History

The City School completed this campus in 2001 and hoped to shift all its pupils to the newly built campus. But due to the location of the campus in an ethnic Sindhi majority area of Qasimabad, the parents of the Mohajir children protested and threatened to take their children out of the school. If this had been done, The City School would have been marginalized and would have become a school solely for Sindhi speaking children in Hyderabad. To avoid confrontation and solve the matter in an amicable way, the authorities of the school held negotiations with the aggrieved parents. The lengthy discussions proved fruitful and it was decided that another campus would be built (Liaquat Campus) in the school owned plot in Kohsar, and in the meantime, while the campus is under construction, the children could go to the older branches of the school, also in Urdu speaking or Mohajir dominated areas of Hyderabad.
